Apple Crisp

This recipe for apple crisp has been in my family for years.  It’s a soothing dessert during those wintery months when you want to kill yourself.  APPLE CRISP SAVES LIVES!

The only painstakingly boring part of making apple crisp is cutting up those apples!  But once you get them cut, then the streussel topping is so easy it’s almost a joke.

YIELD: 8-10 servings

TIME: 1 hr 30 minutes

9 peeled and sliced apples
1/2 cup sugar
1 stick butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup flour
1/2 cup quick cooking rolled oats

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  Cut apples into slices, making sure there is no skin on the apples, and place in a large pan.  Add sugar to the apples and mix with your hands.  Cream butter and brown sugar, and add flour and oats.  Sprinkle on top of sugary apples, and bake for 45 minutes.  Serve warm, with vanilla ice cream.
